MANAGEMENT BY CONSCIOUSNESS is not a new management jargon. Rather, it is an age-old eastern wisdom of doing or getting
things done. It simply means what it means ACT WITH TOTAL SELF-AWARENESS. It is the holistic approach to managing ones life.
It is not confined just to business situations.
If you look at our daily routine, in this modern day busy world, we are hardly aware of our behavioural patterns. For
example, how many of us can describe in detail how we took our bath today? When you stood under the warm shower, did you feel
how the gentle flow of water caressed your body, starting from head to foot? The tiny droplets of water passed through your
locks in the head down on to the shoulders, losing their warmth slowly, and then on to your back, down your thighs, before
finally streaming down the tiles. Or, for that matter, are you conscious of how you applied soap to each limb of your body?
When wiping with the soft towel, were you conscious of how the towel absorbed the moisture progressively?
Oh, I am sure that no such thoughts would have crossed your mind. We are most of the time too busy thinking of what next?,
than about silly things like how the toothbrush went over our teeth while brushing in the morning. There are important things
to do. The morning meeting for a new product launch, or advertisement budget, which is expected to be fiery and ensue into
a battle of wits with colleagues.
So, what is the result? Throughout the day, you move around with an uncomfortable feeling. The list of things to do looks
like a death trap. So many decisions to make in so short a time. The pressure of having to deliver results, gets you. And,
the pressure leaves you fuddled ever more. You work like an automaton, coming home late, tired everyday. The weekends are
no big deal. You have to get the car serviced, or ferry the kids to dance classes, or attend to any number of unfinished family
chores.
Pressure comes out of many reasons lack of time, lack of ideas, lack of money, lack of confidence, lack of motivation,
lack of support from the boss or subordinates, lack of understanding by colleagues, family or children, lack of opportunities
-the list is endless. Pressure also comes out of fears fear of failure, fear of the unknown future, fear to face unfamiliar
situations, fear of enemies again the list is endless.
In short, it is worry or fear that makes you uncomfortable, brings up the pressure situation for you, and finally makes
hell out of life. If you look at it closely, worry comes when you think about future. And, fear comes out of your own judgment
(or under-judgment to be precise) of your self, based on your past actions. Many times the past actions bring about a guilt
feeling also.
IMAGINE THIS SITUATION. You are entering the office in the morning. The moment you are seated at your table, you have
become fully aware of all the things to be done that day. Decision after decision, you reel out fast, moving in a jiffy, and
enjoying it all the time. In meetings, you are able to make your point unarguably well, facing no resistance or animosity
from colleagues. Even if they express objections, you are able to see their point well, and credit them for it. Middle of
the day, you already feel that you have almost finished your days work. And whats more, you are going in search of new work
to do. You are feeling energetic and when you get home, you are eager to spend a lively time with the family.
A wild imagination, you think? MAN! THATS HOW WE HAVE BEEN CREATED TO LIVE! We are all basically created to live without
pressure. CHILDREN NEVER WORRY ABOUT PAST OR FUTURE. THEY ARE AT EASE ALWAYS. But, during the process of growing up, we have
forgotten the art of being at ease.
MANAGEMENT BY CONSCIOUSNESS helps you to re-vision that ease and enjoy life truly.
